Overview
Encoder Modulator – a professional broadcast device that converts audio/video inputs (HDMI, IP, etc.) into compressed digital streams and modulates them into broadcast‑ready RF signals (e.g., DVB‑C/T, ATSC) for distribution over cable, terrestrial, or IP networks.
The DMB-9581E is a 1U rack‑mount encoder‑modulator integrating H.264 encoding, multiplexing, and modulation in one compact chassis. It supports up to 24 HDMI, IP, and ASI inputs, converting them to RF outputs compliant with DVB‑C/T, ISDB‑T, or ATSC standards (50–960 MHz), and additionally delivers Transport Stream outputs through both ASI and IP ports.

Features:
All-in-One Integrated Encoder, Modulator & Multiplexer – This unified platform accepts HDMI inputs while also supporting 128× MPTS/SPTS streams via UDP/IP and 2× ASI inputs. RF output can be generated from HDMI, IP, or ASI sources. The device provides IP-based outputs including 127× SPTS over IP (UDP/RTP), 1–8× MPTS, and 2× independent ASI outputs. RF output is configurable as 4/8/16 carriers for DVB‑T/ATSC‑T/ISDB‑T/Tb/DTMB, or 16/32 carriers for DVB‑C. (Note: ISDB‑T RF output is limited to 1 ASI input and supports 2K mode only; 4K and 8K are not supported.)
Broad Source Compatibility – Compatible with hybrid input setups such as HDMI + Tuner (supporting DVB‑S2/C/T2/ISDB‑T/ATSC), for example 16× HDMI + 8× programmable-frequency tuners.
Flexible Frequency Allocation – Provides 768 MHz of usable bandwidth, enabling flexible assignment of frequency points across this range (when configured for 16× RF outputs).
Multi-Carrier Configuration Options – Offered in versions with 4/8/16 carriers for DVB‑T/C/ATSC/ISDB‑T, or 32× QAM carriers for DVB‑C, selected based on the number of program channels required.
ASI Port (Asynchronous Serial Interface) is a standard interface used in professional digital video broadcasting (DVB) systems for transmitting MPEG-2 Transport Streams (TS).
Key Features:
Transmission Content: Carries MPEG-2 TS streams without embedded clock signals.
Physical Connector: Typically uses a 75Ω BNC connector.
Data Rate: Fixed at 270 Mbps (with a usable payload of about 200 Mbps).
Applications: Commonly used for signal interconnection between digital TV headend equipment, such as between encoders, multiplexers, and modulators.
In simple terms: The ASI port acts as a dedicated data cable for carrying "packaged digital TV program streams" between broadcast devices-similar to a specialized "TS stream cable" in professional applications.

Application
Flexible DTV and CATV Broadcasting Platforms – Distribute IP and HDMI program sources to all connected televisions via existing coaxial cable networks. Ideal for advertising, surveillance, training, and educational applications. Seamlessly modernize analog head‑end systems with a fully integrated digital television solution. Designed for diverse settings such as corporate offices, hotels, educational campuses, healthcare facilities, restaurants, and other public spaces. Compatible with digital TV transmitters to enable wireless broadcast capability. A cost‑effective solution for digital television signal distribution

What is a Headend?
A headend serves as the central hub in a television distribution system. It receives TV channels from external sources (such as satellite or terrestrial antennas) and converts them into a standardized format for transmission to in-room televisions. A traditional headend typically consists of receiving antennas and signal-processing equipment that converts, encodes, and modulates incoming signals for distribution.
