Types of EDFA Amplifier
Power amplifier
The power amplifier works on the transmission side of the link and is placed behind the transmitter to boost the power of multiple wavelength signals after multiplexing, and then transmit them.
Relay amplifier
Repeater amplifiers are usually placed along the intermediate points of the transmission link in dwdm links to overcome fiber transmission and other distribution losses. Relay amplifiers are designed for optical amplification between two network nodes on the main optical link.
Preamplifier
The preamplifier works at the receiving end of the dwdm link. Preamplifiers are used to compensate for losses in the demultiplexer near the optical receiver and are placed before the receiver end of the dwdm link to enhance the signal level prior to optical detection in very long distance systems to improve reception.
Built-in wdm multiplexer: Mix the pon outputs from the olts optional.
High stability and reliability: The front panel key can set up and modify the device performance parameters to meet different network design requirements.

Components of EDFA Amplifier
Erbium-doped fiber
Core of the edfa. It is made by doping the rare earth element erbium into quartz optical fiber.

Pumping laser
Used to raise energy for erbium. 1480nm wavelength is proved to work best, followed by 980nm wavelength.

Isolator
Used to restrain the optical lights from reflecting and ensure the optical amplifier works stably.

Coupler
Used to couple optical lights and pump lights into erbium-doped fiber.
04
Optical filter
Narrow band-passed optical filter with bandwidth within 1nm. Used to eliminate the spontaneous emission light of the edfa amplifier to reduce the edfa noise.
